Walters are passionate about the welfare and production of their turkeys, selecting slow growing traditional breeds that reach full maturity naturally. Their diet includes homegrown cereals milled on the farm and importantly their food is free from growth promoters.
The turkeys live in spacious, airy barns that open onto the meadows. By day the turkeys enjoy the fresh air of the Berkshire Downs, foraging & pecking through the grass. They spend the night in large fresh straw bedded barns.
The turkeys are dry plucked & hand finished on the farm at Aldworth using modern facilities. They are game hung for up to two weeks in purpose built refrigerated rooms. This ensures they are moist, tender and develop that full old fashioned flavour Walters Turkeys are renowned for.
Walters are proud of the care and attention given to the welfare of their turkeys and are inspected by the local EHO, Traditional Farm Fresh Turkey Association, SALSA and the Soil Association
Your turkey will be oven ready, wrapped in greaseproof paper and neatly placed in a box with a sprig of fresh rosemary and vacuum-packed giblets to make a delicious gravy. A pop-up timer, cooking instructions and recipe leaflet will be included.
